Finding affordable holidays in Europe

Ever since the Euro become the main currency throughout Europe, there have been people saying that the one problem that it would bring would be difficulties when people went on holiday! Of course, this is something that most people baulked at at the time, but as time has plodded on, it has become more and more apparent that this has been the case. When the Euro was introduced, you could almost get two Euro's to the Pound, which seemed to be a fair price at the time. Nowadays, it is getting closer and closer to being one Euro to the Pound, which is obviously a disastrous situation when shown against the starting points all those years ago.

Of course, that was  long time ago now, and who is to say what the exchange rate would be like now against the Peseta or the Franc. All we can do is get on with the situation at hand, but it does mean that we have to be fairly careful when it comes to buying holidays.

These days a lot of people tend to stay in Britain, even if they don't really want to, but this is often a false economy. The fact is, finding cheap accommodation in Britain is incredibly difficult, and exchange rate or no exchange rate, Britain is an expensive place to be. It costs a lot of money to travel, and it costs a lot of money to be able to eat out in any sort of restaurant. It is because of this that you really should still do all that you can to be able to enjoy a holiday abroad.

Of course, if you walk into your local travel agent and try to find a holiday as you night have done ten years ago, you are on a hiding to nothing. The best you can expect is some tawdry package deal which is going to cost you more than it really should. Equally, if you go direct to large companies websites then you will also find inflated prices. The best thing you can do is to go online and search out the holidays you want, by looking separately for cheap hotels and cheap flights.

You will be absolutely amazed at the choice that you will be faced with, and thanks to this incredible level of competition between holiday providers, you will find some excellent prices. A good idea is always to stick to countries that are independent of the Euro, such as turkey, but you can easily fly to Spain and enjoy a cheap holiday, despite the Euro. You will find that the price of living in Spain is still cheap enough for the exchange rate not to matter, for example.

All you have to do is to search carefully to make sure you find the right deal. Cheap holidays are out there, and they are available in every country in Europe. you just have to be able to track them down!
